The Fitzgerald Woodlands Hotel is one of those hotels that is the pillar of a community and the trusted ‘go-to’ wedding venue in its county and surrounding areas. What i loved about this venue was that it was family run. David Fitzgerald and his family have been in operation for many years and have a strong history in providing excellent flawless weddings.
The unique thing about this wedding venue is really the hands-on presence from the Fitzgerald family. You can really sense that you are in good hands and that no matter what you want, no ask is too big or small. After spending a small amount of time in David’s company i would trust him with any event and in particular my wedding!
I stayed the night and experienced all of what this hotel has to offer. It’s not just a great wedding venue but a great place to go for a break. There was a mix of so many types of people staying there from couples to families and tourists from afar. The rates are very reasonable and the rooms are way above what i expected. The food was great as well!
My favourite part was the spa. It is beyond fabulous. The spa sits in a building beside the hotel so as to take you away from the hustle and bustle of a busy hotel. There is an afternoon tea room dedicated to the spa and immediately i thought about how great this would be for a hen party. There are relaxation rooms, treatment areas and a hair salon. If you were staying there the night before your wedding you could avail of the bridal packages and get ready there. It’s so relaxed!
The hotel also has a leisure centre which means that if you are a guest attending a wedding you can enjoy a dip in the pool and use the steam rooms. There is also a gym if someone is feeling full of beans!
For weddings, it is priced very reasonably with packages from €44 which is a complete bargain. This is a gorgeous venue and it’s four star so that is a deal i would jump at! They also have a lot of free bits and discounts.
They only take one wedding per day but have a variety of options pending on the size of your wedding. There is a smaller dining room (which you will see in the pictures below). This is a really elegant, vintage room. For larger weddings they have the ballroom and this can take just under 300 guests but the room is adaptable and if you have 100 it would still look full.
There are so many beautiful touches, the devil is always in the detail and these guys leave no stone unturned! On arrival they have vintage tea cups for your tea and coffee reception, we all know how popular this is at the moment! What i sometimes find with well established wedding venues that have been operation for many years is that they tend to have a mind set that what they were doing 10 years ago is enough now but every year a new wave of couples comes with new expectations and demands. They also want to get married in places that are in keeping with the times. What i admired about this hotel was that they didn’t rest on the laurels, they had all of the new trends, including the tea cups! Another great thing is that they provide chivari chairs so you wont have to rent them and this style chair is hugely popular. To rent them it costs a fortune! This shows that they really understand weddings and the needs of their couples.
Overall, this is a great wedding venue and you can rest assured that your day would be in very good hands here.
Take a look at some of the pictures i took on my trip!
