I actually did this with Havana Therapy in IFSC. I was expecting this to hurt like hell and leave me roaring red but it was grand…..and that’s coming from me who has the pain threshold of a snail.
Havana use FDA approved technology and it can get to all hair colours except grey. It can also work on any skin tone. Other treatments before this one could only do very dark hair on light skin.
They beam a light in to the hair follicle and this burns and destroys the hair growth. You will feel a light heat as this pulse is being done.
You will probably need a minimum 6 sessions depending on your progress, hair growth and hormones. Each appointment spaces out to once a month and you can only shave or trim the hair between treatments. Waxing and plucking are no no’s! It can also be used to remove ingrown hairs.
After the treatment you will need to put Aloe Vera on the skin and you can get this in most pharmacies. They also recommend that you get a broad spectrum UVA/UVB, Zinc oxide or titanium based SPF (now there’s a mouthful!) if you are getting any treatments on your face. This prevents any pigmentation. You will see noticeable difference even from the first session.
Havana stocks Image which is very popular. I use Image as part of my daily skin care routine.
If you were looking to do this in time for your wedding, it is advisable that you do a minimum of 7 months to a year in advance, just to give yourself a good chance. You also need to be 2 weeks free of the treatment before going in to the sun to avoid pigmentation. This will be important if you plan on going anywhere sunny for honeymoon!
In terms of cost, it depends on the size of the area and how many sessions you have.
It works out a lot cheaper than waxing in the long run plus less painful!
Everyone is different and responses to the treatment can vary. If your hair growth is very hormonal based, you may need regular maintenance.
Anyone that I know that has it done raves about it and couldn’t imagine life without it.
