I only heard of this beauty treatment a little while ago and I must be honest…..I ran for the hills when I heard what was involved.
Laurie in Havana Therapy IFSC sat down with me and brought me through the process in great detail and even after that I wasn’t overly convinced.
The word ‘needling’ just had me quaking in my boots.
After I had my baby, my skin was very dull and just lacked a bit of oomph! I felt that my skin needed brightening up but I was hoping for a magic wand but unfortunately that wasn’t a viable option.
So, off I went to (reluctantly) Havana Therapy to get micro needling.
The idea behind micro needling is that by probing the skin you will stimulate collagen production which brings new and refreshed skin.
It promotes fresher, plumper and firmer skin. Micro needling can also bring down scaring and stretch marks.
As I lay on the treatment table, I was flinching with this great pain expectation.
I can confirm that there is no great pain. I basically got myself in to a ball of stress anticipating a big painful ordeal when it was just a pinch!
Yes, there is a level of manageable pain but trust me, I have a very low pain threshold and I was fine. The more sensitive areas were along the bridge of my nose and forehead. Everywhere else was pain free.
After the treatment is completed, you will be left with a red face. I made sure that I didn’t have anywhere to go the next day. It took a few hours for the main redness to come down. My skin had a red glow for a day and then it went straight to healing mode.
My skin went from red to peeling in some areas. After 4 days I started to see clear skin and all signs of the treatment were pretty much gone by day 7.
My skin felt amazing by the time I got to day 7. My make up just glided on to my skin. It was so firm and felt lifted. Everything felt firmer and clearer.
I can imagine how great this would have been for my wedding day.
I had facials done but none of them had this level of clarity on my skin. It really is miles ahead. There wasn’t one blemish on my skin.
I would consider this to be a facial on steroids!
I will definitely be going back for a second round!
