To kick off my Real Honeymoon section, I couldn’t think of anyone better to contribute than Material Boy (MB) from Cork. Material Boy is a travel blogger but also covers travel for Cork Wedding Magazine. That’s how I came across him and wow….this guy really knows how to travel in style.
As part of his research, he popped over to the USA to experience pure luxury in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Rodeo Drive.
Inspired by his love of Pretty Woman, he always wanted to visit Beverly Hills. Finally his dream came true when he jetted off with his hubby PJ. Here is what he found….
The Beverly Wilshire Hotel
The lobby really sets out the hotels luxurious stall, with its shiny marble floors, grand staircase and if there are such a thing as “destination flower displays” then this is where they reside. The standards are timeless and ridiculously tasteful and somehow encapsulate Old Hollywood and contemporary LA all at once.
Shopping
Once the double doors are opened for you by the sophisticated door man, you’re essentially a hop, skip and a jump to a fashion paradise known as Rodeo Drive. Prada, Gucci, Dior, Versace, Chanel & Louis Vuitton are to name a few of the stores that are waiting for you to max out your credit card. Rodeo Drive is the definition of grandeur and is a huge indication of how the “other half live”.
The Boudoir
If cash is of the essence and one will only settle for the best then “ The Penthouse” is the only place for you. The most expensive and largest penthouse in all of LA can be yours for $25000 a night. The suite has a lavish interior that comes with its own living room, library, large bedrooms, walk-in wardrobe and breathtaking panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills. One will feel exactly like a movie star in this chic, classy space thats fit for a superstar but if you need to stick to a budget that’s more realistic to the mere mortal then the standard room rates can start from $700 night.
Fine Dining
Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so book your table at The Blvd Lounge and kick start your morning with some French Toast, Stacked Pancakes, Poached Eggs with Smoked Salmon or the Full American Breakfast. Sip away on delicious freshly squeezed orange juice and strong coffee as you take in the divine ambience on the outside patio directly looking down Rodeo Drive.
Dinner
As the warm LA sun sets its time to put the gladrags on and head to the infamous Cut Wolfgang Puck restaurant for dinner. The restaurant has an 1980s-retro vibe to it and is notoriously known for its prime cuts of Wagyu Beef and Fresh Fish that is filleted from the bone in front of you. This should definitely be on your agenda during your stay.
Pampering & Poolside Relaxation
Their flagship amenity “The Spa” has won an abundance of awards. The Spa offers an endlessly indulgent menu that will leave you floating on air. My husband and I both opted for an incredibly relaxing and therapeutic Swedish Massage that helped us get through the dreaded jet-lag. After treatments you can relax at the outdoor pool. The amazing staff will be waiting to serve you a refreshening cocktail as you bask in the warm LA sunshine.
Your honeymoon should be filled with opulence, sophistication and filled with memories that you will cherish for a lifetime. Beverly Wilshire will give you the five star treatment that we all desire and dream of. Be your own movie star and strut your stuff down Rodeo Drive. Be your own Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Dreams really do come. Happy Honeymoon Guys………….. Love MB x
