A Real Clonabreany House Wedding
It all started on a night out at the “Club of Love” aka Club 92 in Leopardstown and switch forward to 6 years later and they say I do in the stunning setting of Donabate Church and Clonabreany House.
The got engaged on Stephen’s Day 2016 and Elaine was completely taken by surprise! She might have had a few too many the night before and was getting pretty cosy in her PJ’s when Aidan summoned her out of her nook and presented her with a little Pandora box which contained a little charm of a ring in a box, next thing……Aidan was down on one knee and Elaine ran out of the room in shock but managed to say yes in the meantime!
Aidan was plotting the whole proposal for months and the following day he whisked Elaine off to Powerscourt Hotel for a lovely celebration. Straight after their break they visited Martin in Bespoke Diamonds and got the official engagement ring.
Listen up gents!!!! That is how you do a proposal!!!
Planning:
I work with Elaine and let me tell you, she is one of the most organised people I have ever seen in action. Of course, she didn’t mess about with the plans and if memory serves me correct, by Spring time, she had pretty much everything planned!
The Wedding Day
“Our church ceremony was just perfect. Before it started our Priest Fr Joe Connolly went around chatting to all the guests and just having a laugh with them. I had several people tell me how nice he was. And then during the ceremony Fr Connolly made it so personable and entertaining. He changed the traditional sign of peace hand shake with people touching elbows and hugging and he went down the aisles and involved everyone. It was so lovely.“
As mentioned, the party was in Clonbreany House and it was set up beautifully with paper lanterns, flowers and birdcage centrepieces. Aidan’s mum added her personal touch by doing the flowers and you will see from the pictures, the floral work was so special.
“We had little touches like, a Candy Ferris Wheel, Tayto crisp sandwich packs, Penguin cake toppers and Penguin table names. We also had our place-card names done by a wonderful calligraphy artist.”
The meal was a sensation and straight after, The Best Men filled the dancefloor with some favourites after a very quirky first dance song ‘The Lava Song’ with a ukulele….how cute is that! At the end of the DJ set the party continued to Clonreany’s little Shebeen.
Parting Advice from the couple….
“Take it in little chunks at a time. And when you are getting overwhelmed, take a break, go for nice dinner together and just relax. And just remember to have fun.”
“On the wedding day, make sure to take a few private moments to yourselves. You are together all day but you are also being pulled in different directions. We made sure to take a few moments alone to just be by ourselves. It really makes such a difference.”
