Welcome to the real wedding of Mairead and Christy by Katie Kav Photography.
The Engagement:
Having met in Keogh’s Pub in Dublin City, Christy opted for a more romantic destination to pop the question. It was in Lisbon Portugal where Mairead said yes!
Planning
Lisbon held a very special place in their hearts and they had every intention to get married there but to keep their options open, they visited Ballymagarvey Village and fell in love with the venue straight away.
Ballymagarvey Village gave Mairead and Christy their own dedicated wedding planner who took them through the majority of the preparation plus Katie their photographer gave them a wedding planning guide which put them on the right track. By the sounds of it, they didn’t have too much heavy lifting as they had a great team there to help.
The Big Day
Both Mairead and Christy got ready at the venue and were blessed with a sunny July day. The church was in Mullagh in Cavan and guests made their way to Ballymagarvey Village after. The Ceremony was beautiful and the amazing Eimear Quinn and the Dublin String Quartet added such atmosphere.
They opted for a floral theme and as you will see by Mairead’s Savin London floral print gown, they really nailed the entire look. They had plenty of blooms and a special touch was the vintage photobooth.
The day and night went perfectly. Guests were sitting out by the fires in the Courtyard till the wee hours of the morning, a true sign of a good wedding!
“We just wanted people to have a party and they very much did”
Parting Advice
“We would spend less time worrying about where everyone sat at reception and just let people sit where they liked. The people you want are at the wedding so let them sit where they want. People make a wedding, you just have to facilitate the fun.”
“Don’t sweat the small stuff and let the bride to be do most of the organising or delegating but it helps if you find a venue that does alot of the work for you – like Ballymagarvey. Enjoy the preparation as the day goes far too quickly. Also, the venue gave us a 15-minute break in the day, just to be together and it was such a lovely touch”
