This year we decided to have a staycation holiday. The thoughts of packaging and bringing a toddler abroad just didn’t sound like much of a holiday, so we said we would stay home and take in some of Irelands finest sites. We stayed in Lahinch as the beach is one of the best in Ireland and the food is great. While in Lahinch, it would have been a crime to not go and take a look at The Armada Hotel. It’s a 10 minute drive and located right on Spanish Point. You feel like you are in a different world at Spanish Point. The views are spectacular.
The Armada Hotel sits right on the point and is a window to the Atlantic Ocean. Before you even walk through the door, the landscape is just breath taking. You have crashing waves, seas for miles and rugged cliffs. It is the perfect picture.
The venue itself was recently refurbished and some of you may be familiar with it after seeing Dancing with the Stars and Fair Citys Aoibhin Garrihy and her hotellier husband marry there. You can see some of their wedding pictures right here. John Burke owns and operates this hotel and you can really feel the family touch.
While having an unbelievable lunch (just to let you know my husband said that the mash potato is the best in Ireland), I managed to catch up with Marita the Armada’s resident Wedding Coordinator. As luck would have it, they were setting up a wedding so I got to see it in all of its glory.
Firstly, when you walk through the door, you are greeted with a very fresh and welcoming reception. As you walk in, you won’t be able to miss Johnny Burke’s. This was the original pub from which everything else grew. It has a really cute exterior with thatched roof. Your guests will be brought straight through to the Ocean Bar where guests can enjoy a drinks reception and access out to the outdoor area which overlooks the ocean. Once the bell rings for dinner, your guests are brought to the Atlantic Suite which as it name suggests, looks right out to the Atlantic Ocean. The views are unreal. I loved the brightness of the room and the decor. While in the Atlantic Suite, there is a private wedding outdoor area which is a shabby chic style.
My husbands parents attended a wedding here a few weeks before we arrived there and they raved about the wedding, the service and the food. That was the seal of approval for me.
