Clontarf Castle – Dublin’s Historic Gem
Sometimes, it’s easy to forget the treasures we have right on our doorstep. Take, for example, the illustrious Clontarf Castle, sitting just a skip from Clontarf Bay, right in Dublin’s heart. I recently revisited this Dublin gem, and oh, what an experience it was!
On the day of my visit, the castle was abuzz with wedding preparation, giving me a firsthand look into the castle’s wedding scene. Right off the bat, couples are given the luxury of choice. They can make their grand entrance through the modern, glass-adorned main hotel entrance, seamlessly juxtaposed with the castle’s timeless features. Alternatively, for those looking for a touch of nostalgia, there’s an intimate entryway that lets you step straight into the pages of history.
Once inside, the options for a drinks reception range from the classic charm of The Knights Bar to the contemporary elegance of the Indigo Lounge. Each presents its own unique ambiance, catering to varying tastes.
Should couples wish to have their ceremony on the castle grounds, the venue doesn’t disappoint. The expansive Great Hall, with its versatile design, can be partitioned to accommodate both a wedding ceremony and a more snug setting in The Viking Suite. And when the vows are exchanged and it’s time to dine, the Great Hall’s opulent decor promises an experience straight out of a fairytale.
Speaking of food, my numerous dining experiences at Clontarf Castle, from the Farenheit restaurant to the Knights Bar or a function in The Great Hall, have been nothing short of exemplary. The culinary offerings are flawlessly served.
Yet, what truly sets Clontarf Castle apart is its prime location. With views overlooking the scenic Clontarf Bay, couples have a wealth of picturesque backdrops for their wedding photos. Whether it’s the sandy stretches of Clontarf beach, the famous promenade, or luscious greenery of St Annes Park, the photo opportunities are endless. Not to mention, the castle’s own intimate garden provides a beautiful alternative for couples.
A royal treat awaits newlyweds as they retire to the King’s Suite. Situated on the 4th floor, this luxurious suite boasts panoramic views of the North Dublin coastline.
With wedding packages starting at a competitive €89 per guest, Clontarf Castle offers not only flexibility but also incredible value for money. Each package is thoughtfully curated, allowing couples to tailor their special day precisely to their desires.
