The Johnstown Estate has always been a hotel that I’ve been fond of so when I was asked to come out, of course there was no hesitation.
This venue has always been a popular choice for weddings and leisure breaks. It is probably one of the most popular ladies afternoon tea and spa destinations in Leinster.
I haven’t visited The Johnstown Estate for about 4 years and couldn’t believe the transformation! I wasn’t alone, when some of my followers and friends saw the pictures, they got in touch to say ‘Wow’!
The Johnstown Estate sits on acres of greenery and forestry. There is no shortage of locations for wedding pictures. The house itself is a restored 18th century Georgian residence and has many of the original features. The refurbishment has been ongoing for the last year and from what I could see, no stone has been left unturned.
When you arrive, the tone is set by the impressive exterior which follows right through to the reception area. The decor is a blend of vintage and contemporary.
Weddings parties have a choice of arriving through the main hotel entrance or the private wedding entrance. I liked the wedding entrance as there is a beautiful self playing grand piano, private drinks reception area and civil ceremony location.
Both lobby areas have plenty of space to host your arrivals party and also have bar areas.
The O’Rorke Suite is the wedding ballroom and it can adapt in many forms to suit your wedding size and requirements. There is a one wedding per day policy. There are options available to smaller intimate weddings right through to the 300 upwards weddings parties.
The O’Rorke Suite comes fully equipped with all of the wedding decor that you will need but is also neutral to allow you to sprinkle your own style. So many more couples are opting to do this, particularly with their table centrepieces.
The Lady Margaret Suite blew me away. This is where you stay on the night of your wedding. It is like having your own luxury apartment for the day. There are 3 rooms and a hall. The bedroom boasts a super king bed and when no one was looking, I of course tested the mattress – pure bliss. You literally melt in to the bed. The bathroom is like something you would see on a Pinterest board. The third room is the lounge and bigger than most living rooms. Again it is like one of those inspirational decor pictures from Pinterest. The light is fantastic for makeup if you were planning on getting ready at the venue.
Speaking of which, if you choose to get ready in the venue, the Spa can do your make up and there is a hairdressers on site. Very handy for you and your guests.
I’ll let the pictures I took do the rest of the talking!
