Kinn Óir is a specialist, handcrafted wedding accessory brand. I had the pleasure of meeting Michelle this year and her passion for her profession is contagious. You can’t help but get swept up in the romance of her pieces. Every single piece she brings to life tells a story. I thought I knew attention to detail before I met Michelle but her care and skill is a whole new level. I have personally seen and held her veils and they are made with the most delicate fabrics. Michelle creates bespoke pieces for the brides and bridal parties she works with.
Michelle created Kinn Óir after she got married and realised that it was incredibly difficult to source unique headpieces and veils.
Now, brides from across the globe come to Kinn Óir to find their timepiece. You can choose a piece from an existing collection of work with Michelle to create your personalised design that represents your vision for your big day.
Michelle… Tell us about your beautiful business
“Kinn Óir comes from the Irish for Chinn Óir “golden head” as the famous legend Niamh Chinn Óir And Óisin from Tír na nÓg the land of Eternal Youth. I am so passionate about creating timeless heirlooms that live on in photos and videos and become treasured pieces that will bring you back to that day and relive it over and over and hopefully pass on in the future. My granny and grandad were married for almost 60 years and every year on her anniversary she would wear a lavender dress like her wedding day and reminisce. My grandfather serenaded her with “At the end of a perfect day” on their wedding day and again on their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Her dress and headpiece immortalised forever in all the photos in the her sitting room. This is at the centre of Kinn Óir re-living a day to cherish over and over having a beautiful heirloom captured to enjoy decades later and something to pass on.”
What a bride told me…
Michelle was working with me on a bespoke order before the lockdown. My few words here can’t do her justice, she was attentive, cooperative and so dedicated to her work. Michelle would send several updates/videos during each stage of creating my headpiece.
After lockdown, when it became clear that my wedding in Italy, scheduled for July, would have to be postponed – Michelle just offered out of the kindness of her heart to create an item for my bridesmaid too, at no extra cost. This piece received as much care, attention and input as the first piece I had ordered. The both arrived a few days later, lovingly presented in a gift box. Michelle was generous with her time and talents at a time when I was very disappointed, and it made a big difference.
