The story of Donna and Brian started at a birthday party…4 years later, they were walking down the aisle.
Their first port of call was to the Keadeen Hotel where Donna’s mum resides as the duty manager. There was never a question where they would be celebrating their big day. Once the date was set Donna hit Pinterest for some wedding inspiration. They found attending wedding fairs really helpful as it allowed them the chance to talk to vendors face to face and sort everything out all under one roof.
Once the venue was secured, church, band (Vegas Nights) and photographer (Mark Donovan) were next on the list.
When it came to selecting the all important dress, Donna visited 3 bridal boutiques in total, which isn’t bad going at all. She fell in love with a Ronald Joyce Ball Gown style dress in Amarra Bridal. I think you will all agree that she selected a brilliant one.
The cake was booked after this, Brian and Donna were very accommodating with the flavour selection, all main players got their favourite flavours. Donna opted for a chocolate biscuit cake tier with Brian getting carrot and Mum lemon drizzle. A vanilla layer was added to top it all off. Suits were next on the list and that was very easily booked.
Next came the all of the small details such as Invitations, seating plan, favours, candy cart and photo booth. Donna looked after all of these items herself and as you can see from the pictures, the effort really paid off!
When the big day came around the excitement was in full flow. For Donna, while there was great excitement, her morning were very chilled and relaxed. Everything went without any hitch.
“One of my favourite parts of the whole day was walking up the aisle in the church, it just felt amazing and I knew it was a once in a lifetime feeling.”
In the Keadeen Hotel, Donna and Brian treated their guests to afternoon tea and French Martini’s which seemed to go down and treat. Donna added sweets to the ladies and gents toilets, along with pictures of her statement wedding shoes which were of course the blue iconic Monolo Blahniks.
I really liked this idea, for most venues once the meal is over, there are some changes that the staff need to make to accommodate the band and dance floor. This means that guests have to up and leave the room. Donna, very cleverly had a lovely reception set up during the interval. In the entrance room, she had the candy cart, photo booth and a Ferrero Roche love heart on display and ready for guests to get stuck in. The whole ceiling was covered in balloons. Such a great idea.
The evening went so well and everyone danced the night away.
A few days after the big day, Donna and Brian went on honeymoon to Tenerife for 2 weeks. What a great destination to relax and unwind. God knows Donna needed it after all of that work she put in!
Some parting advice from the bride!
“Enjoy the planning, I did feel stressed the week of the wedding because I wanted a lot of little details, but apart from that the planning was great fun and I just enjoyed it. And also on the day of the wedding forget about everything and enjoy the people around you, if something tiny is missed on the day chances are you are the only one that will notice so don’t let it spoil your day.
